He was born in the quaint village of Barajei-Bome, nestled in the Mbengwi region—a small yet significant part of the Momo division in Cameroon’s northwest. His upbringing was deeply rooted in faith, with his mother, a devout Presbyterian, instilling Christian values, while his father, though not a believer, was widely respected as a good man. Remarkably, when Alfred was just six months old, his father affectionately referred to him as “Pastor,” often expressing his hope that young Alfred would one day fulfill that role.
Alfred’s academic journey was marked by determination and success. After completing his primary education, he earned a spot at the Government Technical College, where his hard work paid off as he graduated and passed his advanced-level exams independently. This achievement opened the door for him to continue his studies at the Government Technical Teachers Training College, setting the stage for a promising future.
In 1979, Alfred experienced a profound transformation when he was born again, marking the beginning of a life dedicated to serving the Lord. By 1983, he had taken his first steps into pastoral work, joining the Full Gospel Mission as an associate pastor while simultaneously teaching at the Government Technical College Ombe in Cameroon’s Southwest Region.
Alfred’s journey of faith and ministry continued to evolve. In 1986, he was trained by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association as an itinerant evangelist during the Amsterdam ’86 World Conference in Holland. He returned home with an unquenchable fire in his heart, fervently spreading the gospel through evangelistic programs, reaching people near and far.
In 1996, after a decade of serving as a principal in a government institution, Alfred made a bold decision. He resigned from his well-established teaching career to devote himself entirely to full-time ministry. This leap of faith set the stage for what was to come.
By 2000, Alfred had undergone advanced leadership training at the Haggai Institute, returning with a vision to build up God’s end-time army in Cameroon. This vision gave birth to the Revival Gospel Ministries in 2002, a ministry founded on glorifying God, edifying the Body of Christ, and evangelizing the world. Under the banner of “Reaching upwards to Glorify God; Reaching inwards to Edify the Body of Christ; Reaching outwards to Evangelize the World,” Bishop Alfred has become a beacon of light to many across Africa, America, and Europe.
His influence extends even further through the Revival Gospel Radio, a private station reaching over two million people across four of Cameroon’s ten regions. The impact of his ministry is profound, with countless lives transformed, healed, and touched by the power of the gospel. Bishop Alfred’s passion for unity among Christians is evident in his invitation to pastors from various denominations to preach on the radio, embodying the mission: “The whole Word, to the whole world, by the whole Church.”
Bishop Tembi’s ministry is characterized by the operation of the word of knowledge and the manifestation of signs and wonders. His greatest passion remains the revival of Cameroon, fulfilling the Great Commission by taking the gospel beyond the confines of church walls—into homes, offices, cars, and wherever sinners may be found.
His quest for more profound knowledge of God led him through a series of theological and ministerial training. He studied at the Full Gospel Bible College in Bamenda, advanced his learning at the School of Ministry by Discipling the Nations Ministry in Limbe, and pursued further training at the Haggai Institute for Advanced Leadership in Singapore and Maui, Hawaii, where he also served as an International Faculty member.
In recognition of his contributions to ministry, Alfred has been awarded multiple doctorates, including a Doctorate in Theology from the International Circle of Faith University and a Doctorate in Communication and Missions from Cornerstone University, USA, and the African campus in Owerri, Nigeria.
